Behavior & Myths

Why? Because I am a Husky

The shortest answer to the most asked question — and the post that turned 225,000 viewers into one giant collective sigh.

Why is the bowl in the bedroom? Because I am a Husky. Why are you screaming at a closed door I just walked through? Because I am a Husky. Why are you eating dirt? Because I am a Husky.

The breed has the highest tolerance for absurdity in its own behavior of any dog you'll meet. Many things a Husky does only make sense from inside a Husky's head — and that is the entire point.

How to use this knowledge

  • Stop trying to make every behavior logical. Some are not.
  • Pick your battles. Drama at the bath: lose the battle, keep the dog clean.
  • Reward genuinely calm behavior — it is more rare than you think.
  • Keep your sense of humor. Owners who lose it lose the relationship.
