Training & Recall

Socialization without overwhelm

The 8–16 week window matters. So does not flooding a sensitive young dog.

Quality of exposure matters more than quantity. A puppy that meets 100 strangers in a stressful way ends up worse off than a puppy that meets 20 strangers in calm, controlled, positive contexts.

Build a varied checklist

  • Surfaces: grass, gravel, wood, metal grates, smooth tile, wet leaves.
  • Sounds: traffic, sirens, vacuum, kitchen, fireworks recordings at low volume.
  • People: different ages, mobility aids, hats, beards, different voices.
  • Other dogs: stable, friendly adults — not random dog parks.
  • Handling: paws, ears, mouth, brushing, gentle restraint.

Stop a session the moment the puppy starts disengaging. Recovery and rest are part of the work.

Bring it to the pack
